Assignment one submission: house for Aldwin Mead

Last time my client told me about his work and life, from that conversation I made the decision for these design and for him.

The first design is made for him to let him feel comfortable and relax when he come back and also give him straightly what he wants. I made a one meters high foundation up to the ground floor so that keep the privacy. When he opens the door he will see a big wide space, which is his paint wall, dining area and living room. On the right hand side will be the second floor stairs and the way to his bedroom. When he feel tired and stress he could go up the ladder to the top of his house. There will be a good place for his to have a rest and touch the nature. The whole idea is based on the simple and easy shape and structure, because I believe that simple makes beautiful and also that will be the thing I could give a hand on my client out of his stressful work.

The second design has a really simple shape as well. I just made two cuboids to be the main part.

The three levels of this house are connecting by a 4 meters’ height ladder. And I also made a one meters’ height basement for my client to use as his bedroom. On the right hand side of the first floor will be his workroom and there also have a big opening for him on the top of the house. I guess touch the nature will be the way to get his pressure out of his mind.

Nothing changed before that thing happened. Even though it is a solemn work but he never felt hopelessness. Something changed after that day.  Every day his work was communicated to the decedent, record the last piece of memories from their life into words. He was taciturn in office, preferring to spin inner dialogues and listen to the silence of infinite spaces and the songs of birds. He was thinking why he did this job that always facing the death. As the time passed he turned to be unfeeling to his work even sometimes he was impatient to the family of the decedent. However at that day everything started changing.

He clearly remembered that was a Thursday afternoon on August. That day was a cloudy day and at that time he was ready to go home. He picked up all stuff and locked the office. 4PM was the busiest time in a day so that he decided avoid this period. He walked into a store and trying to buy something for dinner. Suddenly there was a young man running into the shop with a wet suit, it was raining. Then he noticed that was someone he knows about – Brady, Brady Hawk who was worked with him for a month and then changed his job to the bank on the second street. Everyone in this company was not graduated on the same major so did he. Brady’s major was finance and he was study on law. He goes ahead and wanted to say hello to Brady then maybe they could have their dinner together, there always have topic to discuss between young’s. Luckily Brady saw him at the same time, and like he wanted they decide went to cafe together. Still raining and the surface of road gathered water. There was one car suddenly rushed out of the road and directed coming to them. He followed fall down in a faint with a loud sounds. When he woke up was two days after. Accompanied by a vague awareness he was been told a desperate message. ‘That young man with you was passed away.’ After the doctor said for the time he felt His mind went blank and then he passed out again.

Things in the past so many years he is still memorable. As the time passed he changed a lot. He dispels thoughts that he wanted to change a career and keep working. But with more patience and respect each of the deceased and what happened on them. He does not so rigid like before and turning to facing every deceased more seriously. He tried to learn how to appease the soul of the family and tried to be a conscientious officer who writes down the end life of the deceased. And he used his spare time on the painting; his painting shows the respect and loves for the life, the hope for the future and cherishes the memory of the deceased. Now he is coming to 38 years old and has a lovely family and an adorable daughter. He is pleased and Satisfaction of the life he has, and he also trying to paint his life as a beautifully story.
